Week 2 Recap

Hi there, friends!

I'll start off this week's recap by being honest with y'all - some weeks it's harder to write these recaps than others. And this week is a tough one, because the last thing that's burned into my football memory is Nick Chubb's season-ending injury during Monday night's game. If there's anything that makes you not want to think about football, it's that kind of thing. Just horrible. But here's the thing - football really is life. It's got its ups and downs, its joy and its pain, and it is certainly not measured by the number of times you fall down. It's measured by the number of times you get back up again, and over here at Barbecue Sauce HQ, we're sending Nick Chubb all the positive energy that he can bounce back from this. Now that might be a heavy and sappy start for a league recap, but sometimes, that's just about doing the little things that bring you happiness. For me, that's spending some time with y'all to put down the highs and lows of the week. So take a little commish love to your heart, and let's get into the match ups!

Let's start out this week with the punch out between AdamBlowsGoats-HaveProof and Zip Zop Zooies. ABG-HP had an absolute banger of a week. It looks like Christian McCaffrey is going to be totally unstoppable by anything other than his trick ankle. ABG-HP also benefitted mightily from the Pittsburgh defense's pick 6 on literally the first play of the game. Unfortunately for ABG-HP, ZZZ was on a barn burner of a week. Can we get T.J. Hockenson for two trips to the end zone on Thursday night? You bet. And how about Joe Burrow remembering in the second half of the game that he plays professional football for a living and hitting Tee Higgins for two TDs? And how! ZZZ came up with the W, as well as the highest points total in the league this week. Great job to you both!

Moving on, we had Panic And Snooze matching up against No Punt Intended. PAS came out strong with Kirk Cousins and his extra late TD on Thursday. Although the result was a loss for the Vikings, Barbecue Sauce HQ has heard reports that he threw it just to pad PAS's stats. PAS also had another banger of a game from Keenan Allen, who came away with 30+ points. NPI sure was happy to have Travis Kelce back and healthy again, but it ended up being a slow week across the board. They will certainly be looking forward to brighter days as the offenses get more cozy with each other. As it was, PAS was victorious, and missed out on the highest points of the week by only one point. Well done, guys!

Next up, PasswordIsTACO went against Rubber City Roughnecks. RCR had a tough week having to bench Aaron Jones, but Kenneth Walker III was a bright spot in the line up, punching out with 2 TDs on the clock. RCR can also be happy that Lamar Jackson didn't provide two consecutive weeks of heartbreak and went for over 200 yards passing and 2 TDs. But let me tell you - TACO is not going quietly into that good night. In addition to a solid night out for Josh Allen and the Bills, TACO had four players turn in 20+ point games. When all was said and done, TACO came out ahead. Way to go, you two!

Finally, we had our closest match up of the week as Be Curious Not Judgmental went up against East Side Believers. We'll call this our Lasso Match of the Week, since both teams are references to the show your commish so lovingly rips off in these recaps. BCNJ got all his football done and wrapped up in the early window of games on Sunday, which was a thrill to watch. The clutch play this week was James Cook in the flex position, who came away with 123 rushing yards. Justin Herbert also had a nice sunny Sunday afternoon with 305 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Sadly, the rest of the day was a little bit quiet. ESB also had a lot of quiet players, but WRs Ceedee Lamb and Devonta Smith were loud enough to make up the difference. There are reports that throughout Sunday and Monday, ESB was muttering, "There but for the grace of Jalen Hurts go I." When the dust settled, ESB had the edge by just 10 points. Well fought, folks!

Well, just like that, week 2 has been 86'd. Things are really starting to heat up here in the league, and just like in a kitchen, I'm yelling "Corner!" Cause I'll see you around. To all the winners, oui chef! To everyone else, don't get in the weeds, because week 3 starts now.

Hugs & Kisses,

Your Commish

Weeks 5 & 6 Recap

Hey, everybody! Long time, no see! Boy I tell you what, sometimes the time just gets away from you, and that's what's certainly happened over the past couple of weeks. We have gotten through two full weeks of fantasy football, and where has your stalwart commish been? I wish I could say that it's because I was out there just having too much fun and time was just flying, but the reality of the situation was... I was caught up doing normal adult life stuff and I forgot. I do apologize to y'all. So instead of our normal recap of the match ups, let's go through what all you fine team managers have been up to over the past couple of weeks! AdamBlowsGoats-HaveProof had both the thrill of victory and the agony of players on bye week over the past couple of weeks. Derrick Henry was the star of week 5 for ABG-HP and the W they brought home that week, rushing for over 100 yards with a couple of receptions for icing on the cake. Week 6 was a bit of a scramble between the bye ...

Week 4 Recap

Howdy, folks! Well, as y'all may have noticed, week four really flew by, so much so that it's pretty much week five now! Sorry about that, time got away from us here at good ol' Barbecue Sauce HQ. But it was a thrilling week of football that handed out more Butterfingers than Halloween night! By which I mean there were a lot of bounce-off-the-hands drops... Anyway, there were some big booms in the match up this week so let's get into it! PasswordIsTaco's illustrious win streak came to an end this week against Biscuits With The Boss, who exploded with a total of 163.16 points. BWTB's wide receiver duo of Justin Jefferson and Mike Evans came up with 30+ points each, locking in both the victory and the highest total of the league this week. TACO's own dynamic duo of Deebo Samuels and Christian McCaffrey rocketed up over 20 points each, but it was not enough to stop BWTB from cashing in on his payday. Well done to you both! Panic And Snooze pulled out the W ove...

Week 1 Recap

Hello again, all you wonderful people!  That crisp fall chill is in the year, and that can only mean one thing - NFL football is back! As predictable and ubiquitous as pumpkin spice everything, the new season is everywhere, folks. Week one featured grudge matches of quarterbacks playing their former teams, a slip-n-slide at Soldier Field, and more shanked kicks than you can shake a stick at. I don't know about y'all out there, but over here at Barbecue Sauce HQ, it just feels good to be home. As for the match-ups, we had not one, but two  teams coming out strong with over 170 total points by the time the ballots were counted Monday night. Biscuits With The Boss is our esteemed league points leader, with a ludicrous display of Justin Jefferson and 177.02 points for a victory over the newly renamed Panic and Snooze. Following closely behind is our defending league champion Rubber City Roughnecks with a whopping 174.5 points led by Saquon Barkley, taking the W over the some...
