Hey there, all you fine folks!
Time sure flies when you're having fun, and week two of the season was no exception! Apparently someone decided that this was gonna be the Comeback Kid week, because this time around it was all about making up those double digit deficits. We had the stunning return of the Cardinals against the Raiders, the shocking turnaround of the Dolphins over the Ravens, and the sudden yet inevitable snatching of defeat from the jaws of victory as the Browns blew a 13 point lead over the Jets. Just goes to show that NFL football is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get, and sometimes it's an onside kick that you just can't recover. Speaking of surprises, let's get into our match ups this week!
Three out of our four Barbecue Sauce match ups this week came down to that magic that we call Monday night football, so let's go ahead and talk about the only match up that was decided by Sunday night first.
Some of y'all may have been worried about PasswordIsTACO going into this week after losing first string QB Dak Prescott to an injury and having to put in their back up. Friends, these fears were totally unfounded. Sources say that Tua Tagovailoa got out of bed on Sunday morning, kissed his fingers and pointed them to the heavens and said, "This one's for you, Taco." He then went out and threw for 469 yards and 6 TDs in what is almost definitely the best performance of his professional football career. Even two interceptions couldn't break his stride. This QB rampage was instrumental in Taco taking victory over Rubber City Roughnecks this week. RCR put up a good fight with Mark Andrews's 100+ yards and a TD, and the clinic that the Bucs defense put on for the Saints, but it just wasn't enough this time around. Heck of a match up, you two!
Monday night brought a lot of points and sweaty palms to our remaining three match ups this week. No Punt Intended managed to hang onto a narrow victory over Panic and Snooze this week, with less than 5 points separating them as the final seconds ran off the clock. NPI benefited greatly from Tagovailoa's love note to Taco this week with WR Tyreek Hill's 284 yards and 2 TDs, which along with Nick Chubb's 3 TDs in the Browns heartbreaker was enough to hold off PAS's one-two punch of Aaron Jones and Cooper Kupp. A hard fought battle, indeed!
It was a relatively quiet match up for AdamBlowsGoats-HaveProof and Zip Zop Zooies before the Monday night blowout between the Bills and the Titans. ABG-HP scooped up 22 points off of a dominant Bills defense, but ZZZ's pairing of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs really tied the whole room together. Diggs went for 3 TDs and 148 yards, firmly securing the W for ZZZ. Great job, you guys!
Biscuits With The Boss put up a heck of a fight this week against East Side Believers with an impressive look from Lamar Jackson, as apparently no one told him that QBs normally aren't some of the top rushers in the league. ESB's standout this week was the "drafted on name alone" WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, who secured 116 yards and 2 TDs for the Lions this week. By Monday night, ESB was surely on the edge of their seat when they realized that they still had to get past Justin Jefferson and A.J. Brown in order to secure a win against BWTB. But sometimes the Monday night lights makes the impossible possible, and the brutal punch out between the Eagles and the Vikings limited the two star wideouts' productions for a close final score of less than 11 points difference. Well done, teams!
Well, that just about brings us to the end of week two, and I hope everyone had as good a time as we did! Big congrats to our winners this week, in particular to the two currently undefeated teams of NPI and ZZZ! To everyone else, it's time to make like Sylvester Stallone and go over the top, because week three starts now.
Hugs & Kisses,
Your Commish
